Technology giant Apple announced mates will invest $ 850 million to build a solar plant in California that provide power to its facilities in the state.

The CEO of Apple, Tim Cook said at a technology conference in San Francisco, the plant will power its new center in Silicon Valley and other offices and 52 stores in California.

Apple partnered with First Solar, a supplier of solar equipment, to build the plant in Monterrey County, who also operate a data center in California that already uses solar energy.

First Solar is specialized in manufacturing of solar panels and plant construction.

Apple already uses solar energy to power several of its operations, including operations in Austin, Texas and Sacramento, California, and all of its data centers.

The company, based in Cupertino, also in California, announced last week its intention to build a data center in the state of Arizona that will be driven mainly by solar energy.

“In Apple know that climate change is real. It’s been time to talk and we must act,” Cook said.

The value of Apple

Apple on Tuesday became the first company in the United States and the world to overcome the 700,000 billion in market capitalization at the close of Wall Street.

The Cupertino Company had previously reached the bar of 700,000 million during the day stock trading, but this is the first time that beats that ribbon at the close of New York market.

The value of Apple after the close Tuesday on Wall Street was 710.700 billion.

Investors use market capitalization, calculated by multiplying the share price at the close of the total outstanding shares, to determine the value of a company.
