According to representatives of the indigenous peoples of Alaska and Hawaii, the United States forged the results carried out on their territories “by the internal laws of the United States‚Äô referendums in 1958 and 1959, according to which the residents of Alaska and Hawaii supposedly expressed the hope to become a “federal states”. And now they are going to achieve independence from the United States, but only by peaceful political means, using international law, although it understands that it will take a lot of time. In particular, the referendum on secession from the United States will actually spend only about 10-20 years.
“But we are going to use this time to form our people. If we currently hold a referendum, I believe the majority of our citizens do not understand what the problem is. Therefore, they must form, tell them our real history. New Caledonia did it 30 years. So at the moment we do not care who is “for” the process of the restoration of independence, and who is “no.” We just want to have the legal possibility to ask this question and to prepare people to respond to it, “- said a delegate from Hawaii Sioux.
He recalled that at present the process of decolonization of the United States are three areas under American control - American Samoa, Guam and the US Virgin Islands, where for several years now there is a debate on the issue of independence. This Hawaii has plenty of legal bases to require recognition of them as a sovereign state. At the same time it remains in force 46 international treaties, for example, part of the Kingdom as the single representative of the Universal Postal Union.
