A police officer in Los Angeles was arrested and could face charges of smuggling, after officers from the US border with Mexico arrested him and shall find a person hiding in his vehicle.
Officials of the Bureau of Customs and Border Protection reported that the incident occurred last Saturday at around 18:30 when the officer Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) came to the inspection booth input port accompanied by a female passenger.
The authorities of the US Attorney’s Office in Southern California LAPD officer identified as Carlos Curiel Quezada Junior and his passenger as Angelica Godinez, while the illegal immigrant was identified as Antanasio Perez Avalos.
The two US citizens were sent to secondary inspection area, where they checked his Nissan Juke, model 2014, with the X-ray machine in the booth vehicle type.
According to the authorities of the Bureau of Customs and Border Protection (CBP), the review indicated that the vehicle had abnormalities in the rear area.
CBP officers searched the vehicle and found a man of 26 years in hiding; he was a Mexican citizen without documents to enter the United States, according to a press release.
The LAPD officer with the woman were arrested on federal charges and taken to Metropolitan Corrections Center, while the vehicle was seized by CBP.
As reported by NBC and ABC in Los Angeles, the LAPD spokesman Andrew Smith declined to comment on the case, ensuring that it is a case rests with the federal authorities.
